________

Bettina Pousttchi conducts her research at the crossroads between sculpture, architecture and photography, questioning the history and memory of places from a transnational perspective. In her monumental installations she uses fabric prints, classic techniques such as glazed ceramics or elements of the urban space such as bollards and barriers. But the constant that runs through her work is the persistent mediating role of photography. Intertwining architecture and photography, his recent installations – Suspended Mies at the Arts Club in Chicago, Sleeping Empire at the Kunsthalle in Mainz and Metropolitan Life at the Nivola Museum in Orani – also constitute a compelling argument in favor of the central role of the medium in reflecting and shaping our experience of modern architecture.
