In 1946 Le Corbusier, in New York as a member of the international team of architects in charge of the design of the United Nations Building, met Costantino Nivola and formed a friendship with him destined to last a lifetime.

Three hundred drawings, six paintings and six sculptures, already kept by Nivola and now divided between Europe and America, are a testimony of this relationship and represent an extraordinary corpus for understanding the architect’s artistic production.

The volume reconstructs for the first time the story of the collection, analyzes its meaning and provides a substantial contribution to understanding the development of Le Corbusier’s art after World War II and its impact in the American context.
